Most teams start with sponsorship
This one starts with coaching
Saddle Up Frequency is a development-focused race and event team supported by Saddle Up Coaching and Frequency Cycle Works. It is designed for riders who want more than just a jersey, riders who want structure, guidance, and a community that pushes them to improve.
The team brings together coached athletes and committed riders who share the same values. What matters is turning up, putting in the work, and helping raise the level of those around you.
We cover crits, road races, track, time trials, and sportives. Whether you are returning after years away, trying racing for the first time, or already competing and looking for a team, you will find teammates to train with, race with, and learn with.
This is not about kit deals or social media numbers. It is about consistent training, shared purpose, and mutual support.
Where You Might Fit
Saddle Up Frequency is built around coached riders, but self-coached riders are welcome if they share the same standards. You don’t have to be the fastest, but you do have to be consistent, committed, and ready to improve.
You might be:
Returning to racing after a break and rebuilding your base
Entering your first crit, TT, or sportive and wanting support
Racing regularly but looking for teammates and structure
A rider who wants to go from finishing in the bunch to making selections
Someone chasing wins, chasing PBs, or chasing better habits
Progress might mean finishing your first race, or finishing the race first. It might mean sitting further up the bunch, pacing a sportive more evenly, or committing to a teammate’s move. Success is measured in many ways, but it always starts with how you prepare, how you race, and how you contribute to the group.
Team members are based between East and South London as well as the Sussex Coast.
Coaching and Self-Coached
All riders follow the same culture: train with intent, race with purpose, support each other. The difference is the level of individual planning and review.
Self-Coached but Team Supported
Guidance on weekly and block training focuses
Group rides and skills sessions to build race craft
Target event coordination so you always have teammates on the line
TrainingPeaks connection for feedback (trends, consistency)
Goal setting and seasonal reviews to keep you focused and improving
Short post-race debriefs and simple goal check-ins

Event-specific packages to prepare you for key challenges

How It Works
The team runs on a simple rhythm: train, ride, race, review, repeat.
Weekly Structure
Each week we share a clear focus and a “session of the week” to guide riders without enforcing a single plan.
Riding Together
Group rides and skills sessions are where teamwork and confidence are built. We practise bunch positioning, pacing, cornering, sprint drills, and real race scenarios.
Racing Together
We agree on target events so no one is racing alone. Crits, road races, track, time trials, and sportives all count, the goal is to show up, race regularly, and learn every time.
Learning Together
After events we hold short, practical debriefs. Riders share what worked, what didn’t, and what to try differently next time. This is how we turn every start into progress.
Goal Setting
Every rider sets one 12-week goal and a broader seasonal objective. This keeps focus sharp, gives you something to aim at, and helps track improvement without over-complicating things.
Why Join & Where You Might Fit
Saddle Up Frequency is built around coached riders, but committed self-coached riders are welcome if they share the same standards. You do not need to be the fastest rider, but you do need to be consistent, ready to learn, and willing to improve.
This is a team for riders who value development over status. Development teams usually exist only for U23 riders. We believe there should be a place for all ages to train with intent, race regularly, and improve together, whether you are new to the sport or have years of experience.
Many of us have been through the same journey, stepping away from racing, coming back years later, and starting again. This team is built for riders who want to rebuild fitness, pin on a number again, and move from simply finishing to chasing results.
You might be:
Returning to racing after years away and rebuilding your base
Entering your first crit, TT, or sportive and wanting support
Racing regularly but looking for teammates and structure
Aiming to move up the bunch, make selections, and be part of the race
Chasing points, PBs, or series standings
Progress might mean finishing your first race, or finishing the race first. It might mean sitting further up the bunch, pacing a sportive more evenly, or committing to a teammate’s move. Success is measured in many ways, but it always starts with how you prepare, how you race, and how you contribute to the group.
What We Expect
Purpose
This is not about status or social media. It is for riders who want to get better and help others do the same. Winning comes in many ways, but it always it starts with how you show up.
Standards
Improvement takes attention to detail. Do the basics well, stay open to learning, and approach challenges with intent.
Conduct
How we ride, communicate, and support each other sets the tone. Respect and reliability matter, on the road, online, and at events.
Representation
Wearing the kit means more than appearance. It represents Saddle Up and Frequency, in competition and in the wider cycling community.
Commitment
Progress comes from consistency. Turn up, train with intent, and take pride in the way you prepare.
Courage
Take chances. Commit to moves, even if they might not work. Don’t be afraid to lose if it means a chance to win.
