Youth and junior coaching at Saddle Up is built around long-term development. Not just on the bike. Across education, personal life, all of it. Free for London-based riders from Youth B up, or anyone riding for a London club. On-bike coaching, age-appropriate strength work, structured plans through TrainingPeaks. No early specialisation. Sound methods, technical development, sustainable planning. Progress, not pressure.
Six weeks of coaching built around your event. London to Brighton, a sportive, whatever you're targeting. Custom training plan through TrainingPeaks, compatible with Zwift and other apps. Performance Coaching and One to Ones
The following plans include everything from the Monthly Coaching plan, with added in-person sessions to apply your training directly. Use these for skills sessions, strength training, or coached bike rides. Silver includes four sessions per month for focused support and regular check-ins. Gold includes eight, offering consistent hands-on coaching across fitness, technique, and event preparation.
Structured coaching with regular face-to-face support. Four sessions a month, mixing gym and on-bike work, all aligned to what you're working towards. Fully personalised training through TrainingPeaks, scheduled flexibly around your life. For riders who want proper progression, technical development, or event prep without the full commitment of Gold.
The most hands-on coaching we offer. Eight in-person sessions a month, split between gym and on-bike work, scheduled around your life. 60-minute gym sessions, 90-minute rides. Every session led by Matt, built around your goals. Fully individualised training programme through TrainingPeaks. For riders chasing real development, performance gains, or a specific target. Event Preparation

The 6-Week Event Coaching Plan is for riders preparing for events like Ride London, London to Brighton, charity rides. All ability levels. Starts with a one-to-one consultation to define your goals, then a personalised plan delivered via TrainingPeaks. Aligned to your availability, event demands, fitness profile.
Weekly check-ins to monitor progress and adapt sessions where needed. Nutrition guidance and hydration strategies built in throughout. Mental preparation techniques to support performance on the day.
Route breakdowns included. Pacing, climbs, descents, weather considerations. The stuff that matters when you're actually out there.
Off-bike strength and conditioning. Structured warm-up and cool-down routines to support performance and reduce injury risk. Training volume starts from four hours per week and gets adjusted based on your schedule.
The plan is Zwift-compatible. Finishes with a post-event debrief, recovery guidance, and continued access to your training data via mobile app.

It's free. Monthly coaching, open to riders from Youth B upwards who are London-based or riding for a London team or club. We're committed to keeping it that way. Access is a barrier for a lot of families, so we're trying to remove as many obstacles as we can.
Parents are part of the process. We work together to set appropriate goals and manage the load on young riders. Training includes on-bike coaching and age-appropriate strength work. Gym programmes built around growth, coordination, resilience. Not just throwing weights at kids.
Everyone gets structured plans via TrainingPeaks, tailored to age, goals, availability. We don't do early specialisation. No lactate testing. The focus is on sound training methods, technical development, sustainable season planning. Progress, not pressure.
I lead the youth and junior coaching. I also coach with the City Academies Track Programme at Lee Valley. Sessions prioritise skill development, confidence, consistency. And keeping academic life in balance.
